A look at the most active venture capitalists investing in AI startups right now.

AI is the ability of a computer or a robot controlled by a computer to do tasks that are usually done by humans because they require human intelligence and discernment. AI startups are an area that has been growing for the past several years. This relatively new technology has applications in dozens of professions and niches the world over. A venture capitalist is a private equity investor that provides capital to companies with high growth potential in exchange for an equity stake. The majority of venture capital comes from professionally managed firms. Here is the list of top 10 venture capitalists investing in AI startups in 2022.

Softbank Group: SoftBank group is one of the leading platform companies in Japan, holding a nationwide telecommunications network, the internet media platform Yahoo! JAPAN, the payment platform PayPay, and the social media application LINE. This group claims to devote 97% of its time and mind to AI development.

Intel Capital: Intel Capital is a division of Intel Corporation, set up to manage corporate venture capital, global investment, mergers, and acquisitions. They invested over $72 million into AI and IoT alone, with total technology investments totting up to over $115 million in 2018.

Data Collective: Data Collective is a venture capital firm specializing in seed, growth capital, growth stage, Series A, and early-stage investments. And they hold the record for backing the most Artificial Intelligence companies since 2012 – having funded 20 AI startups in the last 7 years.

Toyota AI Ventures: Toyota Ventures is a San Francisco Bay Area-based venture capital firm that invests in early-stage startups from around the world. This venture capital subsidiary is aimed at funding AI projects in robot and autonomous mobility.

Lightspeed Ventures: Lightspeed Venture Partners is a venture capital firm that engages in consumer, enterprise, technology, and cleantech markets. They recently invested in AnyVision, the leading facial, body, and object recognition AI software, along with FortressIQ, which is crafting a governance layer for enterprise bots.

East Ventures: East Ventures is a pioneering and leading sector agnostic venture capitalist firm in Indonesia. Their recent AI projects include TARA, AI for product scoping and talent assignment; Kite, a software that augments your programming environment with all the programming knowledge on the internet; and vision software for object and facial recognition.

Baidu Ventures: Baidu Ventures is a corporate venture capital arm of Baidu. The firm seeks to invest in the artificial intelligence and technology sector. Baidu is a global leader in the AI arms race, having developed its own language processing, machine learning, smart home, and telecom AI systems.

Institutional Venture Partners: Institutional Venture Partners is a later-stage venture capital firm that focuses on technology and media companies. IVP has now become a huge investor in AI startups.

Two Sigma Ventures: Two Sigma Ventures is an early-stage venture capital fund that invests in companies run by highly driven people. Their investments have included Amper Music, an AI software for making music for videos based on emotional mapping; Zymergen, an AI software to improve biological manipulation; and Socore, a predictive analytics software.

Khosla Ventures: Founded by Sun Microsystems co-founder, Vinod Khosla in 2004, Khosla Ventures tends to focus its energy on funding eco-friendly technology.  Their current exciting AI projects include Artrendex, AI solutions for the art market; and Ayasdi, an AI software that helps enterprises sort complex data to provide actionable solutions.
