This Made In India Electric Bike Launched With 200 Kms Range; Book At Rs 499

EV

Boom Motors has launched the Boom Corbett electric two-wheeler in two variants, namely Corbett 14 and Corbett 14-EX. This marks the company’s debut offering which it claims to be India’s most durable and long-lasting. It is built entirely indigenously so it is suited for Indian driving conditions.

Appearance

It is built on an exo-skeletal double-cradle chassis made of high-tensile steel. The design is reminiscent of old-school mopeds with a small floorboard and is minimalist without any side body panels. The seat is flat along with a straight line handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs. The front is fitted with an LED headlamp.

Battery And Range

The base variant runs on a 2.3kWh battery which can deliver a range of up to 100km. Thanks to the larger 4.6kWh battery, the EX delivers a range of up to 200km on a single charge.

Charging And Top Speed

The batteries can be swapped and a portable charger is provided which can be plugged into regular 15A household sockets. Both the scooters have a charging time of 2.5 hours with a fast charger and four hours on a standard charger. The EX trim has a maximum speed of 75kmph whereas the base trim reaches a top speed of 65 kmph.

Other Features

The bikes support 200kg loading, and can climb the steepest gradients. Users can also track various things through an app such as the number of trees saved, petrol consumption saved, and CO2 emission reduced. Other features include accident/theft detection and a parental mode with the usual speed indicator. The bike also has 30 litres of under-seat storage.

Introductory Pricing And Pre-Booking

The Corbett 14 is priced at Rs 89,999 and the EX at Rs 1,24,999. It has also started taking pre-bookings for both at an initial token amount of Rs 499.

Future Price Hike

After the introductory period, the price will be hiked by Rs 3,000 on the base variant and by Rs 5,000 on the EX trim at a later stage. Deliveries will begin from January 2022.

EMI, Warranty

Boom Motors is also the first EV company to offer customers the option to pay through a 5-year EMI plan of Rs 1,699 per month. It is also offering a 5-year warranty on the IoT-enabled smart battery, and a 7-year warranty on the double-cradle steel chassis.
