Telangana In Forefront In E-Vehicles Promotion: Energy Minister

December 13, 2021
Energy-Minister-Jagadish

Hyderabad: The State government was in the forefront in encouraging use of e-vehicles, said Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy here on Saturday.

Participating as chief guest at ‘Go Electric’ campaign and electric vehicles road show organised by Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) at People’s Plaza, he said the State government was giving various incentives to encourage people to buy e-vehicles.

Industries Minister KT Rama Rao was also attracting several companies to the State for manufacturing of e-vehicles and batteries, he said, adding that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and he had purchased e-vehicles and started using them. He said that necessary exemption should be given to the government departments to purchase electric motorcycles and cars. Stating that e-vehicles would not only reduce the financial problems but also help in preserving the environment, the Minister called upon the people to strive for making Telangana a pollution-free State.

The Minister also advised the officials concerned to allay fears among people about using e-vehicles and availability of charging stations. He said there was insufficient supply of e-vehicles to meet the demand. “Manufacturers are asking to wait for over three months for delivery of an e-vehicle after booking it,” he said, underling the importance of organising more promotional activities to clear doubts among people about the e-vehicles.

Most people were apprehensive about availability of sufficient charging units and technicians to attend to repair works in case of breakdown of a vehicle. The TSREDCO, Power Grid Corporation and other agencies should take up the responsibility of allaying fears among the people.

Through TSREDCO, as many as 136 charging units were operating across the State and plans had been chalked out to start 600 units especially in the highways, he said.

The Minister said the entire globe was facing environment problem and it may pose danger to mankind. Stating that the Central government appreciated Telangana for improving greenery, the Minister said the Chief Minister had accorded top priority to Haritha Haram programme and took it as a movement by involving people.
