Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Expand 2.5 Times In 9 Mega Cities In India: Power Ministry

Electrical car (EV) charging stations have expanded by two-and-a-half occasions throughout 9 mega cities, together with Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, within the final 4 months, the energy ministry mentioned on Saturday. The Ministry of Energy lately issued the revised consolidated Pointers and Requirements for EV charging infrastructure on January 14, 2022.

With the appreciable enlargement within the public EV charging infrastructure, the electrical automobiles have began penetrating the Indian market, it said.

The federal government has made 360-degree efforts to boost public charging infrastructure by involving non-public and public businesses (BEE, EESL, PGCIL, NTPC, and many others.). Many non-public organisations have additionally come ahead to put in EV charging stations to develop handy charging community grid to realize shoppers’ confidence.

After the saturation of EV infrastructure in these mega cities, the federal government has plans to increase the protection to different cities in a phased method.

Oil advertising corporations have introduced the establishing of 22,000 EV charging stations in distinguished cities and on nationwide highways throughout the nation.

Out of 22,000 EV charging stations, 10,000 will likely be put in by IOCL (Indian Oil), 7,000 will likely be put in by Bharat Petroleum Company Ltd. (BPCL), and the remainder of 5,000 will likely be put in by Hindustan Petroleum Company Ltd. (HPCL).

The IOCL has already put in 439 EV charging stations and plans to put in one other 2,000 EV charging stations over the following yr. BPCL has put in 52 charging stations, whereas HPCL has put in 382 charging stations.

The Division of Heavy Business has lately sanctioned 1,576 public charging stations for 25 highways & expressways which shall be situated inside each 25 km of vary on either side of those highways.
