Chief Minister Pramod Sawant emphasized the need for a trained workforce, particularly in robotics and data science, and stated that the emergence of big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) will effect jobs in the future.
Sawant stated that his government is putting various programs for the state’s youth into place in order to stay up with the rapid changes taking place in the global knowledge landscape, which is witnessing many dramatic technological developments in the scientific sector.
A competent labor force will be required, especially in fields like robots and data science. Children gain education through robots and coding, which is even more significant, he said. They learn problem-solving and critical thinking skills as well as how to be creative, transdisciplinary, and inventive.
In order to make education more experiential, holistic, integrated, inquisitive, and divide-and-discover oriented, the directorate of technical education is implementing the Coding and Robotics Education Scheme (CARES) in all government-aided schools in the state, according to Sawant. Sawant also urged stakeholders to work toward fulfilling the scheme’s purpose. He stated, “I think they are already doing fantastic work.”
Speaking at a Porvorim event, Sawant stated that the government has chosen to execute the CARES program in order to guarantee that young people obtain the necessary skills in order to obtain employment in the future.
The purpose of the event was to thank the officials for their support of the CARES program and the state champions of the Blender Nation Thon, Codeavour 2023, and Bebras India Challenge 2023 competitions.
Goa is the first state in the nation to teach robotics and coding in all of its schools, according to Director of Technical Education Dr. Vivek Kamat.
According to him, the program attempts to integrate programming, computational thinking, and design thinking skills into the Goa State Board curriculum to better educate students for the demands of the 21st-century digital world.
According to Kamat, the state government is thinking about granting school-age children from all social backgrounds access to skill education, such as coding and problem-solving techniques.
Amol Savil Naik of Murgaon High School in Murmugao, Advait Gaurish Kudchadkar of Bhatikar Model High School in Margao, and John Gabriel Dias of Don Bosco High School in Panaji are the state-level Blender Nation-Thon champions.
The winners of the Codeavour-2023 state competition are Vedant Sinai Kanthak, the class 6 state champion from Shree Mahalasa Narayani Primary School Verna. Class 7 State level champions Pradarsh Sawant from Shree Mahalasa Narayani Primary School Verna, Class 8 State level champions Sreyash Dessai from St Joseph High School, Aquem Margao, and Class 6 State level first runner-up Barsharani Muduli Pranali Velip from Shree Mahalasa Narayani Primary School Verna Tejas Shripad Rao class 8 State level first runner up from Bhatikar Model High school, and Bhavya Rao class 7 State level first runner up from Shree Ram Mandir State level second runners-up were Liselle D’costa and Andrea Colaco from Fatima Convent High School, and class 6 state runner-up Aviya Naik from St. Joseph’s Institute, Vasco.
The Chief Minister presented awards to the winners of the national Bebras India Challenge 2023, which included Vihan from K. B. Hedgewar School Assnora, Ashwin Shirolkar from New High School Digas Panchwadi, Purvo Parab from Alorna Panchkroshi High School, Rashi Pawaskar Cuncolim High School, Nihaal Gawas from Saraswat Vidyalaya Mapusa, Shreesh Gawas Desai GHS Xeldem, Vedang Kamat Saraswat Vidyalaya, Yashashri Chari from GHS Hankhane, Moses Fernandes from Lourdes Convent High School Saligao, and Yashashri Chari from GHS Hankhane.
