Audi e-Tron India Launch Confirmed For 22 July: Advanced Electric Vehicle Coming Soon

June 25, 2021
aufdi etron

The Audi e-Tron is set to debut in the Indian market in July. Audi India is all set to launch its all-electric SUVs e-Tron and e-Tron Sportback electric vehicles on July 22, 2021. These SUVs are expected to be priced at around Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom, India) and will compete with Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace.

In terms of design, the Audi e-Tron looks like any other Audi SUV with its large grille and sharp headlights. Even the side profile looks very Q5-ish. However, it is at the rear that the e-tron distinguishes itself from its carbon-emitting siblings with a full-width lightbar that connects both the tail lamps.

The e-tron Sportback on the other hand looks almost the same, but the roof slopes down sharply after the B-pillar for a sporty, coupe-like silhouette. On the inside, the Audi e-tron carries a design theme that is very similar to its conventionally powered siblings.

Despite having three large screens that run on Audi’s latest ‘MMI touch’, the interior doesn’t feel dominated by screens; Everything feels conventional and familiar to use. As of now, Audi has not yet revealed the equipment list on the Indian-Spec version.

However, we expect Audi to pack the top-end variant with all the goodies like the matrix LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable steering wheel, and many more considering its rather steep asking price in India.

Audi will offer the e-tron with three powertrain options, starting with the 50 Quattro. The 50 Quattro will come with a 71.2kWh battery pack, and pump out a healthy 312bhp and 540Nm on the ground. The more powerful 55 Quattro and S variants will come equipped with an identical 95kWh battery pack.

However, the S variant pumps out an impressive 435bhp and 808Nm, and in ‘boost’ mode pushes out an outrageous 503hp and 973Nm. These figures are significantly higher than the 55 Quattro variant that produces 360hp and 561Nm, and in ‘boost’ mode these numbers rise to 408hp and 664Nm of torque.

Audi claims that these electric SUVs can travel a distance of upto 441km on a single charge, and can be charged from 0-80% in just 30 minutes using a 150Kw DC charger. However, these SUVs will take almost 8.5 hours to do the same feat using an 11Kw AC charger.
