4 New Mahindra Electric SUVs To Launch In India – eXUV300

June 17, 2021
ev

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker is working on a wide range of new products for the domestic market. The brand will introduce close to 9 brand new products by 2026, which also includes two new EVs based on new Born Electric Vehicle architecture. Adding to it, the brand will introduce cleaner versions of the XUV900, next XUV500, next XUV300 and the XUV700. These models could receive plug-in hybrid tech in near future.

Mahindra is reportedly aiming to grab 30 to 50 per cent readiness in the EV space between 2025 and 2030. The company is currently selling the e-Verito in the EV brand.

Before these models, Mahindra will launch the long-awaited e-KUV100 micro SUV and the e-XUV300. These two models were presented at the 2020 Auto Expo. The vehicles were earlier planned to be launched by mid-2021; however, the launch has been delayed due to COVID-19 related restrictions.

The new Mahindra eXUV300 is expected to be launched in the first half of 2022. It will directly rival the country’s best-selling EV, the Tata Nexon EV. If reports are to be believed, the eXUV300 will offer an electric range of 375km on single charge. The SUV will come in two versions with standard model to give a range of around 200km. The long range variant will have a range of 375km, which is significantly higher than the Tata Nexon EV (Claimed 312km on a single charge).

It is based on the in-house developed MESMA 350 (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture 350) platform. The eXUV300 will get an in-house developed 350-volt powertrain supports a wide range of electric motors ranging from 60 kW to 280 kW output, dual motor setups and batteries up to 80 kWh capacities. Mahindra could also introduce a performance oriented variant of the electric car.

The Mahindra eKUV100 is likely to feature a 40kW electric motor that produces 53bhp of power and 120Nm of torque. The mini SUV has a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that will offer a range of 120km on a full charge. Mahindra will offer the vehicle with both standard and fast-charging options. It is expected to be launched in the end of 2021 or early 2022.
