With An Emphasis On Upskilling Youth In Future Tech Courses, Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore Launches The “Samsung Innovation Campus” Program At KLE Institute Of Technology, Hubli

February 14, 2024
Samsung

The goal of the Samsung Innovation Campus initiative, launched by the Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore (SRI-B) at the KLE Institute of Technology (KLEIT), Hubli, is to upskill young people in fields including machine learning, artificial intelligence, coding and programming, and data science. As part of its goal of #PoweringDigitalIndia, Samsung is demonstrating its commitment to the Government’s Skill India mission via this effort.

In order to prepare students for the workforce, KLEIT instructors and students will work on cutting-edge technology training in the classroom as well as projects in areas like machine learning, artificial intelligence, coding and programming, and data science. With the help of technology, fundamental software knowledge, and developing skills, the program aims to enable participants to develop into well-rounded professionals.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia by providing mentorship from SRI-B through a faculty development program.

The Samsung Innovation Lab at KLEIT was officially opened by Mr. Mohan Rao Goli, CTO of SRI-B, and Prof. Rajesh Hegde, Dean (R & D), IIT Dharwad. Other notable attendees included Prof. Ashok Shettar, Vice Chancellor of KLE Technological University, Mr. Srimanu Prasad, Head of Tech Strategy, SRI-B, and Prof. Sharad Joshi, Principal of KLEIT.

“The Samsung Innovation Campus aims to empower youth through education, training, and development in order to contribute to India’s development.” Our collaboration with KLEIT is a first step toward establishing an innovation hub that maximizes the potential of trainers and young people. According to Mohan Rao Goli, Chief Technology Officer, Samsung R&D Institute, Bengaluru, “This collaboration will not only enhance our research & development capabilities in emerging areas, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, and IoT etc., but will also connect us with a talent pool that will build innovative solutions to real-life problems.”

“Our students will learn to acquire technical skills to solve industrial difficulties and gain essential insights thanks to the establishment of this Innovation Center. Vice Chancelor of KLE Technological University Prof. Ashok Shettar stated, “We are optimistic about our partnership with Samsung to significantly contribute to India’s advancement in these critical new technology fields which will empower the youth of India to effect positive change.”

SRI-B hopes to upskill about 100 instructors and students at KLEIT annually with this program. More than 500 students are enrolled in courses in artificial intelligence, coding and programming, the Internet of Things, and big data through SRI-B’s current partnerships with four engineering institutions in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Over one hundred students have already obtained their completion certification.

There is a great need for engineers and scientists with expertise in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. With the development of AI and ML, Samsung is equipping students with the skills necessary to be successful in these rapidly expanding industries. The goal of the Samsung Innovation Campus curriculum is to close the skills gap and give students opportunities to advance in their careers.

With the help of SRI-B professionals, teachers and students can collaborate at Samsung Innovation Campus to address real-world problems with state-of-the-art technologies, gaining a thorough understanding of the technologies involved.

Samsung Innovation Campus is the company’s global citizenship initiative that trains kids in cutting edge technology with the goal of closing the proficiency gaps in the nation. As part of its Samsung Innovation Campus initiative, Samsung has so far established eight Samsung Innovation Labs at IIT-Delhi, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Roorkee and IIT-Guwahati, IIITDM-Kurnool and IIT-Jodhpur. These labs have trained more than 1,000 students thus far.
