What Effects Is AI Having On Farmers And Agriculture?

December 26, 2023
Artificial-Intelligence

By 2050, there will be 10 billion people on the planet, increasing demand for agriculture by 50% at a period of poor economic growth when compared to 2013.

Agriculture occupies about 37.7% of the total land area. In order to provide jobs and contribute to the national income, agriculture is essential. It makes a significant and active contribution to both the economic growth of developed countries and the economies of developing ones. The growth of agriculture has significantly raised the per capita income of the rural population. It makes sense and is appropriate to give the farm sector priority and to allocate additional resources.

In countries like India, the agricultural sector employs fifty percent of the labor force and generates eighteen percent of the country’s GDP. The growth of the farming industry will spur rural development, which will cause a structural change in rural communities.

The advent of technology has caused a significant upheaval in a number of businesses around the world. It is surprising to learn that, despite agriculture having the lowest level of digitalization, agricultural technologies have advanced and been commercialized with significant success. Because it allows us to change our environment and broaden our views, artificial intelligence has had a profound impact on our daily lives.

Uses
AI has the potential to completely change the agriculture sector by providing farmers with a multitude of benefits, including the ability to get better results with less effort. On the other hand, it is imperative to clarify that AI serves as an adjunct tool that can improve traditional farming practices. Potential benefits of integrating AI with agriculture include the following processes:

Controlling Risk: By using forecasting and predictive analytics, producers can reduce the risk of crop failures and process errors.
Seed Breeding: AI can help in the development of cultivars that are more resilient to disease and more tolerant to harsh weather by gathering data on plant growth.
Controlling Soil Vitality: Artificial intelligence algorithms that analyze soil chemically can produce accurate estimates of nutritional deficits.
Protecting Crops: AI is able to recognize and eliminate vegetation, detect illness, and make pest control recommendations. AI also has the ability to help farmers find the most profitable rows of land and expedite the crop choosing process.
