US-Based Clari Acquires Indian SaaS Platform Wingman

June 17, 2022

Nearly six months after raising a funding of $225 Mn, US-based revenue operations platform Clari has acquired Bengaluru-based Software-as-a-Service (Saas) platform Wingman for an undisclosed amount.

As part of the deal, the startup has been rebranded to ‘Wingman by Clari’.

“Clari’s acquisition of Wingman will help customers turn recorded conversations into a strategic asset for spotting revenue leak and driving revenue precision…adding Wingman solidifies Clari’s position as the only enterprise platform for running the end-to-end revenue process”, Clari CEO Andy Byrne said in a blogpost.

The acquisition will enable Clari to leverage Wingman’s conversation intelligence technology to provide actionable insights to its clients and structure data available within the organisation. Clari will deploy Wingman’s AI systems to streamline communication between different verticals of the business, he added.

Founded in 2018 by Shruti Kapoor, Muralidharan Venkatasubramanian and Srikar Yekollu, Wingman joins real-life sales calls to record, transcribe and analyse them and provide actionable insights that help companies improve their deal win rates, sales processes and playbooks.

Wingman is backed by marquee names such as Y Combinator, Arali Ventures and Speciale Invest. It claims to have more than 200 clients under its belt and has analysed more than 40 years worth of calls since its inception.

According to an Inc42 report, Indian enterprisetech startups raised more than $3.2 Bn in funding in 2021. Another report by SaaSBOOMi estimated that the Indian SaaS sector was on track to generate revenue between $50 Bn and $70 Bn by 2030, cornering 4%-6% of the global market by 2030.

Earlier this month, SaaS startup Spendflo raised $4.4 Mn in a seed funding round led by Accel India and Together Fund. Bengaluru-based Vtion Digital Analytics also raised $1.3 Mn in a strategic funding round led by YourNest Venture Capital on June 15.

In May, VC firm Dallas Venture Capital closed an $80 Mn fund for early stage B2B SaaS startups.
