Top  AI Innovations In Healthcare

February 28, 2022
AI

AI in healthcare is not something new, but it has gotten more recognition ever since the world went into lockdown in 2020. But even though the world has recovered, AI in healthcare has increased. With the continuous calls from the patients and the ever-growing need for vaccines, AI has evolved and has helped us achieve the impossible. The innovations in the healthcare sector have shown rapid growth and many more innovations are yet to come into the market. These AI applications are set to change the way we see the healthcare world.

Let’s look at some of the top AI innovations that have made a huge impacts

3D PRINTED SMART HAND

3D printed smart hands have changed our vision on prosthetics. Various ongoing projects  have evolved  to add to the making of artificial hands; Open Hand Project is one of them. The Open Hand Project focuses on advancing prosthetics technologically by using smart components. One of the main ideas was to change the normal way of working of an artificial limb. The new smart hand is more than just a mere hand. It can change TV volumes from a long distance, voice recognition inserted inside the arm helps individuals to send more complex commands to any smart devices at home or office. It has effectively combined a smartphone with prosthetics.

MAPProHand PROJECT

This project’s main aim is to build commercial prosthetics from the ground up. The project aims to conduct a research study on the effective flexibility of the artificial hand by using a simple model that ensures its usability rather than a complex model. MAPProHand Project will create artificial hands by using basic AI systems.

AUTISM VIRTUAL REALITY

Autism VR applications help an individual experience a normal day in an autistic child’s life. The VR headsets provide the users with school-like settings where they would see, feel and sense things as an autistic child would do . The main aim of this project is to spread awareness and connect more educators and people so that they can easily interact with children suffering from autism and help them to lead  a normal  life.

CEREBRAL PALSY ASSISTANT

Cerebral palsy is a disability in children which affects their movements and postures. To help and assist children suffering from it we have Cerebral Palsy Assistant  under the SMARTCLAP Project. This project helps in increasing the motivation levels in children. Through research we have found that tasks given by the therapists are quite troublesome for the children as they are unable to understand the tasks easily. This project helps in converting these kinds of tasks into fun games so that they can understand things easily and get engaged  with them for a longer period. This whole process is known as gamification  where hard and boring tasks are changed into fun and understandable tasks.

SELF-HARM, DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE

Nowadays there is an increase in the number of teens who are suffering from mental health issues. It starts from depression and eventually leads to self-harm and sometimes suicide. Now this is where the Mental Health Promotion (MEHAP) project comes into action. This project will soon launch an app to help teens fight mental health problems. The best part is that this app is produced with the help and insights of individuals  who have face similar situations in their lives which made them suicidal. The app has several features like mood monitoring diary, self help menu, mood lifting exercises and activities, also including  relaxing music as well. Teens are required to rate their moods at the beginning of the day and then again re-rate them later the same day. So even after trying out all the remedial methods, the person is still feeling depressed or suicidal, he/she can seek help via the emergency number which is made available to them through the app.

It is quite evident that artificial intelligence is indeed making its way in our lives and making it comfortable and hassle-free. With Artificial intelligence meeting the healthcare industry, it is a big step in modernizing and improving the health facilities in the world. It is certain that this new amalgamation will result into the formation of a better, healthier and fruitful.
