Top 5 Indian Colleges for M.Tech. in AI and Data Science

Artificial Intelligence has captured the imagination of the entire world with its potential to solve complex socio-economic problems of our times. Focused national efforts are underway in every country to derive the maximum benefit from AI and become a world leader in the field. Indian can get an edge other countries by training its youth with the aim to fulfil the critical needs of the industry and to fill the gap in the availability of high-end AI scientists and engineers. The vision of the M.Tech. programmes, therefore, is to impart rigorous training in the foundations and deep technology of Artificial Intelligence to produce graduates who can become world leaders in AI and lead India’s march towards leadership in this important area.

  • Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad: The Department of Artificial Intelligence at IIT-H offers M.Tech programmes in AI. Students have the option to choose between the 2-year or 3-year degrees.
  • Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi: The Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence at IIIT-D offers an M.Tech in Computer Science with Specialisation in Artificial Intelligence. This masters degree is primarily industry-focused, though it can be used as a stepping stone for research as well.
  • Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee: The newly established Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science has launched two masters degrees: M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence, and M.Tech in Data Science. The first batch will be accepted for the session 2021-22.
  • Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore: IISc offers two postgraduate level degrees for students of AI and data science. First is the M.Tech. in AI, which is run by the Division of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Sciences (EECS). Second is the M.Tech. in Computational and Data Science, which is offered by the Department of Computational and Data Science. Visit the department pages for further information.
  • Vellore Institute of Technology: The School of Computer Science and Engineering offers M.Tech with the option to specialise in two areas: Artificial Intelligence and and Machine learning; and Big Data Analytics. Students have the option of completing these courses at either the Vellore or Chennai campuses.
