Sana, the first AI anchor for Aaj Tak, was introduced by Kalli Purie, vice-chairperson of India Today, at the 20th India Today Conference, which began on Friday. Sana is smart, beautiful, ageless, hardworking, multilingual, and entirely “under my control”, according to Purie. Starting this week, the first AI anchor will provide us with the daily news in various different languages.
She went on to say that Sana would highlight each pertinent issue every day and host a show with an audience Q&A to improve audience participation. “Sana does not diminish the talent of the real-life anchors who will be Sana’s mentors. Sana will hopefully soon have a human surrogate editor and a corporation “, Purie remarked in reference to the ongoing advancements.
Purie also said that this partnership is likely to reveal creative magic and that there will never be a conflict between humans and AI in this. The future, she declared, “is both exciting and terrifying. Kalli Purie mentioned the pressure other entities put on the media when discussing the ongoing criticisms of their partiality. She did note that India Today has never compromised on its reporting, and she added that “our credibility is important to us.”
Brad Smith, the vice chairman and president of Microsoft, and other notable figures also offered their opinions on AI. Smith stated that AI “could become as big as the internet.” He projected that the influence and use of Generative AI, which opens up new avenues for citizens to obtain information, would soon be seen in India’s government services and businesses. He also spoke with Rahul Kanwal, Director of the Aaj Tak news channel, and India Today about the advantages and disadvantages of generative artificial intelligence.
