Ten Female AI Professionals Who Stood Out In 2022

Genuine concern is being raised about bias in AI, and this issue is growing. Engaging diverse teams throughout the process is one of the more efficient approaches to address prejudice in AI. In the AI and tech industries, women are notably underrepresented. Only 26% of workers in data and AI professions are women, according to a World Economic Forum poll.

Women in AI is a series that INDIAai started in order to highlight the contributions of women who have been working exceptionally hard in AI and to better understand what it takes to be a leading woman in the field. We interacted with a number of these women in 2022. The experiences of eleven motivational female AI specialists are retold here.

Apurva Madiraju is one of the well-known figures in India’s AI ecosystem and has more than 14 years of experience in the field. Currently, she holds the position of Vice President of Swiss Re, one of the top global suppliers of insurance, reinsurance, and other insurance-based risk transfers.

Dr. Jyoti Joshi founded and currently serves as the CEO of Kroop.ai. A deep tech business named Kroop.ai has created an advanced audio-visual deep learning platform. She holds a PhD in artificial intelligence from the Australian University of Canberra and is a first-generation entrepreneur. She performed internships at Monash University in Australia and the University of Waterloo in Canada while working for mental health analysis.

Ishu Jain: Ishu Jain oversees Swiggy’s central analytics department. She has more than 16 years of diversified work experience producing analytical insights for business entities across geographies at organisations like Dell, Genpact, Fractal, Target, and Swiggy. She has developed into a trusted Leader, a domain-neutral analyst, and a lifelong learner throughout the years.

Preet Saxena has over 14 years of experience in the fields of research, analytics, consulting (both solutioning and delivery), and productization. At Concentrix, she is presently the Global Analytics COE Group Leader. She has experience and competence in analytics technology to business knowledge and analytics deployment for informed business decisions. She has handled many analytics account deliveries across domains.

Mamta Aggarwal is the VP and Head of American Express’s AI Labs’ AiDa (AI-ML Products & Platforms). She formerly held a crucial position as the Managing Director of Accenture India’s Global AI Hub. Mamta has a number of publications, patents, and honours to her name from the business world.

At Philips Research Bangalore, Pallavi Vajinepalli is a Principal Scientist and Group Leader. She is in charge of a group of over 40 scientists and research engineers who create ground-breaking innovations for healthcare applications, particularly in the field of ultrasound.

Supriya Bhuwalka: Supriya Bhuwalka is the creator of Coding & More, which educates kids of all ages about artificial intelligence. She focuses on preparing the next generation for advancements in AI.

Supriya Singh Raman is a data scientist with more than 16 years of expertise who is skilled in creating statistical and predictive machine learning models for finding patterns and gaining insights from data. She currently works for JPMorgan Chase & Co. as Vice President, Data Science, Corporate & Investment Banking.

Youcode, an NGO that attempts to teach AI to students in Indian communities, was founded by Suriya Prabha. Her goal was to create an India with villages that were technologically self-sufficient and a generation that was technically literate. Six people made up Suriya Prabha’s team, including her husband and a couple graduate students. They launched Youcode in 2018 under her direction.

Usha Rengaraju is a data scientist with a background in psychology, economics, finance, business foundations, and business analytics. She presently serves as Exa Protocol’s Chief of Research and has more than ten years of experience in the field.
