MeitY Will Host The GPAI Summit In 2023. Here’s All The Information You Need To Know About GPAI

December 9, 2023
GPAI

India is hosting the Annual GPAI Summit here from December 12–14, 2023, as one of the founding members of GPAI in 2020, the incoming Support Chair of GPAI, and the Lead Chair for GPAI in 2024. On December 12, 2023, Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to give the event’s opening speech. It is being arranged by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is an international and diverse organization that was founded in June 2020 with 15 member countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. It brings together well-known specialists with a shared commitment from a variety of areas, including science, business, civil society, international organizations, and national governments. By supporting cutting-edge research and applied endeavors in AI-related priorities, GPAI aims to close the gap between theoretical understanding and actual use of AI.

The GPAI Secretariat, GPAI Working Group, Multistakeholder Expert Group, GPAI Council, GPAI Steering Committee, and GPAI Expert Support Centers make up the organization’s structure.

Above all, a common dedication to the principles outlined in the OECD Recommendation on Artificial Intelligence unites members and participants of GPAI. The goal of all GPAI initiatives is to promote the ethical development of AI based on these values of inclusiveness, diversity, human rights, creativity, and economic prosperity.

GPAI upholds the values of conscientious management of reliable AI. It makes investments in AI R&D, cultivates a digital AI ecosystem, creates a supportive policy climate for AI, develops human potential, gets ready for the change of the labor market, and guarantees global collaboration for reliable AI.

Several side events will be held during India’s hosting of the GPAI Summit to give the host nation an opportunity to highlight its own AI accomplishments and to have discussions on important AI-related topics.

The multi-stakeholder Experts’ Group of GPAI, Global AI Experts, multilateral organizations, and other pertinent stakeholders will be present at the Summit, together with senior level government delegations from 29 GPAI member countries.

In order to promote international cooperation, GPAI brings together bright minds and specialized knowledge from academia, government, business, civil society, and international organizations.
