Is AI taking the job of content writers?

Is AI taking the job of content writers?

The advent of the internet has made the media industry more and more efficient with each passing time. Use of artificial intelligence in mass communication was not the first choice of the journalists and the media houses. The industry was quite sceptical towards the use of it in their daily activities. However, the efficiency and accuracy of artificial intelligence has gained the trust of the industry and now has proven to be a great companion of journalists.

The real question is whether the work of content writers is at stake or is it a symbiotic bond which AI and journalists are creating with each other? The question does not end here. The capability of artificial intelligence is magnificent which is now widely accepted, but, does it mean that it can make content writers obsolete ? Absolutely not! The use of artificial intelligence is indeed making most of the work automated but it does not make content writers’ jobs obsolete. The tools used by content writers are used to ease their work and make it more accurate and efficient.Let us now consider some numbers to support our argument.

The year on year growth with AI being used in marketing is a massive 186%. The use of AI by marketing leaders has increased exponentially. The growth has been massive between 2018 to 2020 which went up from 29% to 84%. Chatbots are one of the main tools which rose to popularity from 2019. The usage of this tool increased by 92% within a span of 1 year.

It is quite understandable that the market is still skeptical and reluctant on artificial intelligence being used widely in creative jobs of humans. This is clearly justified as even though artificial intelligence has great potential in the near future , still, only 15% of the content marketers are interested in implementing Artificial Intelligence in their work from 2022. But, the interesting fact is that even after a low percentage, we still come across AI being used in content marketing and creation. The main reason for this is the AI’s accuracy and consistency. Some of the most used AI tools such as Grammarly have successfully established a monopoly in their field. Now, we see that this tool has proved to be our go to tool whenever we do any work involving writing. The use of such tools is easing out the work of journalists to a large extent. The use of such tools has grown rapidly within a span of 4 years. Earlier, there was hardly anyone using any tool, but now , the tables have turned!

Here are some of the areas where AI is best used for content:

  • Content Planning: The learning and analysing capability of AI makes it the most trusted tool. AI helps in web analytics and gives a thorough report on keyword search, browsing data and audience analysis, giving the owners a great overview and helping them in planning content creation accordingly.
  • Content Creation: The AI has an ability of writing detailed reports on events by analysing data from gov. Websites and publishes an article based on the study. This has eased out the work of content writers and has enabled them in presenting news at lightning speed.

It is quite clear that AI is not going to take away jobs from the writers. The point to really ponder upon is that the content writers are adopting AI and are using it widely in their work which is making their work more accurate and reliable. Hence, we should not treat AI as a threat but rather should consider AI as our best companion.
