Indian Education System Is Set To Use Ethereum Blockchain: Maharashtra

July 28, 2021
Blockchain

Maharashtra will use Ethereum Blockchain for verifying MSBSD diploma certificates.

Ethereum blockchain is set to integrate with the Indian education system to provide tamper-proof diploma certificates to students. This massive initiative is taken by the partnership between the Government of Maharashtra and LegitDoc, an Indian blockchain technology start-up. This official announcement took place with the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development (MSBSD) on World Youth Skills Day in 2021.

The Government of Maharashtra is focused on launching the world’s largest blockchain technology-powered educational credentialing system for almost one million certificates. A SaaS-based platform known as LegitDoc is helping the Government by harnessing a mix of Ethereum blockchain as well as a cryptographic technique. Yes, there is an ongoing issue about the status of cryptocurrency in India. But leveraging Ethereum blockchain in the education system received a clean chit from the Indian Government. The start-up will facilitate issuing and verifying almost one million digital certificates of MSBSD students for eight years. It is a necessary step to put a stop to forging documents and their illegal business.

Blockchain technology has started transforming the financial sector across the world with its smart functionalities. The Government of Maharashtra realized its transparency capability and wanted to be the fourth entity with the Government of Malta, the Government of Bahrain as well as the Government of Singapore to implement Ethereum blockchain in the education system. The partnership with LegitDoc will help to take on the most professional document falsification through the utmost secured and transparent blockchain technology.

All the MSBSD students will receive a “certificate_LegitDoc.zip” file consisting of the original PDF diploma certificate as well as the proof from the Ethereum blockchain from the software. The authentication and verification process can be done by present students or ex-students such as employees, employers, or any other university. It is known to be the most cost-effective, eco-friendly as well as migration-friendly process for the students. The implementation of the Ethereum blockchain has reduced a significant number of manpower to provide freedom from this mundane and repetitive task with thousands of certificates. This has given an opportunity for employees to focus on other priority work to boost productivity in offices.

LegitDoc is focused on detecting a fool-proof, tamper-proof, and bullet-proof document with the most secure record-keeping technology in the 21st century that is known as blockchain technology. It covers documents like mark sheets, certificates, insurance papers, permits, invoices, land records, tickets, and many more.
