India Is Acknowledged As The Nation With The Biggest Concentration Of AI Talent

March 25, 2023

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, communications, and electronics and IT for the government of India, said, “Today, India is being recognized as the highest AI talent concentration country.” He continues by mentioning that the nation served as the head of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), a project to improve AI and human-centric development. The minister emphasized to us the need of utilizing technical breakthroughs for societal benefit. Use the positive aspects of technology to transform society and put restrictions in place to halt the negative ones, he continued.

The minister stated that Digital India has been the talk of the town when discussing the government’s initiatives to grow the IT industry in India. Also, he spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan for a digital India. The 2015-launched Digital India plan is built on inclusion and public-private cooperation.

When asked about India’s role in influencing the global IT industry, the minister retorted that the nation has already assumed the lead in every respect because it exports close to 230 million dollars’ worth of goods and employs almost 54 lakh people directly in the industry. He added that one of the top three start-up inventions in the world comes from India.

The minister said that the bill would soon be introduced in parliament and serve as a template for other nations when questioned about the nation’s data protection regulations. The bill, the minister continued, prioritizes the empowerment of women; “she/her was used in the bill instead of he/him.”

The minister added that the center had approved about 40,000 crore rupees in the previous two years for increasing digital and telecom connections and enhancing all of the villages and districts in the country while speaking further about the digital economy and the government’s role in it.

When asked about the PM’s plans for the Digital Village, the minister stated that “nearly 380 towns and cities have already been connected to 5G, which was launched by PM Modi last October.” In comparison to a goal of 40,000 by March 31, 2023, he continued, more than 1 lakh 5G towers had already been built. He also noted that the important distinction between a metropolis and a countryside in terms of the digital economy is gradually disappearing.
