IIIT Hyderabad Offers A Cost-Effective Online Master Of Science Program In Information Technology On Coursera

April 17, 2024
IIT-Hyderabad

One of the top online learning platforms in the world, Coursera, will host the Online Master of Science in Information Technology (eMSIT) program being offered by the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH). The first IIIT in India, IIIT Hyderabad, is renowned for its research-driven educational initiatives and its well-liked online executive education programs.

The first master’s program from an Indian university available on Coursera is the eMSIT. It incorporates and acknowledges micro-credentials from the business, opening doors for students to continue their education based on previously acquired knowledge.

Raghav Gupta, Managing Director, India and Asia Pacific, Coursera, said, “We’re honored to partner with IIIT Hyderabad to bring the benefits of the high-quality, affordable education the university is known for to learners across India and beyond.”

The program includes practical projects, specializations in machine learning, data science, and full stack development, as well as exposure to AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot. Students will also have access to knowledgeable teaching assistants and infrequent lectures by seasoned business experts for further help.

“We are thrilled to make MSIT’s cutting-edge, multidisciplinary educational program more widely accessible. The creative ‘learn by doing’ framework of the curriculum will assist future generations of students in effectively beginning or advancing their careers in computer science and information technology, according to Prof. P. J. Narayanan, Director of the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad.

By 2026, the Indian IT sector is expected to need almost 95 lakh IT workers, according to NASSCOM. Graduates of the eMSIT program will be ready for these highly sought-after IT and computer science positions in sectors like software development, healthcare, and finance. Students will have the opportunity to network with over 3,000 graduates from MSIT who work for major corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and American Express, as well as access online job boards.

Prof. Raj Reddy, the founding chairman of IIIT-Hyderabad, stated, “As IIIT Hyderabad celebrates its silver jubilee, this new programme will help us continue our legacy into the future and build on our commitment to make India a global tech talent hub.” “Our partnership with Coursera helps us deliver this transformative programme at scale and widen the talent pool, as the National Education Policy envisioned.”

Students can learn from any location at any time thanks to the program. The application procedure is meant to draw in students from a variety of backgrounds. To apply, students must have completed a four-year undergraduate (UG) degree with a STEM focus, or a three-year UG degree with at least one course in computer mathematics and one year of post-graduate study.
