Hyderabad-Based Healthcare Major Yashoda Hospitals First In India To Use Metaverse

June 23, 2022
Yashoda-Hospitals

The role of metaverse in transforming healthcare cannot be overstated in this day and age. Hyderabad-based multispeciality healthcare major Yashoda Hospitals has become India’s first such group to offer healthcare services on the metaverse and make the most of the endless possibilities in the world of technology and innovation.

Through this initiative, Yashoda Hospitals is focusing on providing unique and research-based healthcare services. It also aims to create job opportunities for the experts in this field.

The group has invested in a land parcel on decentraland becoming the first such hospital chain in India to be on this prominent metaverse platform. They have also set up an experience centre marking their over 30 years of healthcare services.

In a statement, Dr Abhinav Gorukanti, Director, Yashoda Hospitals said, “Since the beginning, we have aimed to be progressive as a group, we have many firsts to our accolade, including clinical excellence, infrastructure, and innovation. We have been early adopters of digital technology that adds value to our ecosystem, from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 and now Web 3.0. We believe the future will be driven by core technologies like the blockchain and Web 3.0, moving from a centralised to a decentralised ecosystem.”

“Setting up our presence on decentraland is the first step towards our efforts and acceptance of decentralised tech, we will continue to upgrade and invest in making our digital infrastructure future-ready,” he said.

As metaverse combines artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, internet of medical devices, quantum computing, robotics, edge, intelligent cloud, web 3.0 and other technologies, it will not only transform the way people interact but also make digital connectivity more realistic and riveting. More so, in case of telemedicine, medical studies, seminars and other relevant areas.

The group is likely to benefit hugely from this initiative owing to its ability to provide medical services together with professional opportunities on the metaverse once the regulatory norms of the platform mature.

The Covid-19 pandemic has also contributed towards this end as it has somewhat conditioned the consumers to adopt new habits of contactless and online medicine delivery and e-consultation.

Then there is also the blockchain technology which is also represented by metaverse and can help find solutions to problems related to security of data, record management and can also help protect data privacy in the healthcare domain.

There is a huge scope for institutions like Yashoda Hospitals to help metamorphose the approach to healthcare in the country thereby integrating their services in the virtual environment and offer custom-based experiences to patients and drive innovation through cost-effective and accessible solutions.

For the uninitiated, metaverse is a public augmented reality universe that helps build social connections in physical and virtual modes. It also creates a digital world experience through human emotions and gestures. It is a combination of an economic and social structure existing in real and digital worlds.

The growing use of modern information technology in sectors like healthcare also holds the potential to usher in transparency in administration, payment and other related areas.
