How Is AI Adding To The Innovations In Fleet Technology?

How Is AI Adding To The Innovations In Fleet Technology?

In conversation with Mr. Vidit Jain and Mr.Shridhar Gupta; co-founders of LocoNav.

The pandemic has made the need to adapt to changes rapidly, glaring obvious. Nowhere more so than the interconnected global supply chain. Earlier, fleet-technology was sought by more evolved companies seeking efficiency in operations, today a large cross-section of industries that employ fleets have quickly realised the criticality of driving safety, efficiency, and ensuring smooth operations using technology. This adoption will only grow exponentially in the coming year as more and more commercial vehicles see the merits of cost savings and training for drivers. That means fleets of all sizes will increasingly depend on all-in-one platforms that unite disparate functionalities into one comprehensive, easy-to-use dashboard, one bill, and one way to understand, manage and optimize their fleet operations.

After GPS track and trace, fuel monitoring, and on-board diagnostics, Video Telematics – especially AI-driven Advanced Driver Assistance System and Driver Management System will prove to be the new revolution in transport mobility. We’ll see greater use of Video Safety Solutions beyond just post-mortem driver scorecards, and instead in real-time fleet monitoring and even prevention of adverse on-road incidents. As a new generation of vehicles gets embedded with IoT-powered sensors, they will produce vast data continuously. In fact with the right fleet-tech, customized care, service, and even insurance will enter the mainstream. Data generated from vehicle telematics systems will also assist in dynamic mapping of roadway conditions to help drivers understand high-risk routes and help optimize fleet operations further.

Platforms will be of central importance, by uniting systems silos, fleet-tech will provide businesses with visibility and actionable insights to more comprehensive areas of their operations in real-time. The platform ecosystem will also make shared mobility viable resulting in flexible goods movement, dynamic supply chain management, as well as more efficient allocation of shared resources, such as cargo capacity. As commercial vehicles run more efficiently, the role of fleet tech in reducing the carbon footprint of supply chains will become very prominent.
