Hassle-Free Restaurant Service With AI And Computer Vision

February 16, 2022
AI

AI has been taking over industries across the globe for the past years. Healthcare, transportation systems, governance, and social welfare are some of the fields that are highly influenced by AI. The restaurant industry has become the recent addition to the list that embrace this technology. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of online food services has gone over the roof. People choosing for taking out or home delivery rapidly increased since options for dining was limited and as the former became much more reliable option concerning health security. There was also a considerable increase in the number of food delivery apps.

With the overwhelmed amount of orders that a restaurant receives, it might be difficult for them to manage all the orders at once. Most of us might have experienced issues relating to receiving wrong orders, missing items, and getting more than what we ordered. When there are several food delivery executives lined up in front of the restaurants it is no wonder that there might be mix-ups in the order numbers. But these are manual errors. To rectify problems such as these, Agot AI has come up with an AI-based solution.

Computer Vision in restaurants

Agot AI, a company that was founded three years ago is using machine learning to develop computer vision technology for functioning in restaurants. Initially, the model is planned to be implemented in the quick-serve restaurants for solving common errors. This computer vision model will be much more efficient as it is intended to enable customer satisfaction and reward the employees.

The model confirms the accuracy of orders in real-time and notifies the employees if there are any errors in the order. For instance, they did not place ketchup, or the customer has updated cooking instruction as no cheese. If any of such instructions are not followed, the AI act as an agent that double-checks and ensures hassle-free food service. Agot is initially partnering with brands that have the ownership of food chains such as KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. The initial focus of the model is to improve the order accuracy. However, the company is also planning to expand its features to its product offering.

According to Agot’s CEO, “there are several ways to improve the customer and employee experiences for in-house dining, drive-thru and real-time back of house analytics”. He also stated that their initial focus is on the “order accuracy of to-go orders”.

Functioning of the model

The technology behind this innovation functions using a camera that can be converted into sensors. These sensors can collect data to monitor and track the several stages of foodservice. The order is tracked throughout its journey with the model’s kitchen awareness and interventional order accuracy technologies. From the placing of the order online or in a drive-thru to the customer pick up the delivery, the model inform the employer if there are any mistakes occurred. AI in restaurants will aid in providing a better experience for the customers when they want to have a splendid time.
