NVIDIA’s Guide On Making India AI-Ready

February 26, 2022
AI

With the idea of #AIforAll, India has taken a leap in making AI accessible to everyone, despite the existing barriers and differences. However, while walking through the corridors of India one can understand that galvanizing the people of India to the core is one of the biggest challenges. We are a country with restricted but adequate resources. The affordability of the country is being challenged when it has to provide suitable infrastructure for the highly skilled workforce to build a novel technology. Therefore, innovative ideas, with technology as its backdrop, come into being while the hurdles in the course are tried to be crossed. These thoughts of innovation have the power to influence the business models and thereby change consumer behavior in the long run. With the development of technology, AI can now augment the work of software engineers. When the experience of a human being is inputted into the system in the form of data, the efficiency of the AI model will be outgrown more than ever, influencing every single application. When every application become intelligent, we will have to manage it without compromising on the integrity of the datasets- a task that might be difficult to accomplish in the conventional method. To accomplish all these goals and ensure a brighter technological future, the core to galvanizing is by the process of learning or skilling.

NVIDIA is a firm that works for finding a substantial solution to these hurdles by supporting the developer community. It is a computing company that stands on a platform called accelerated computing, through which it works on the domains that normal computing cannot solve. Therefore, there is a long list of challenges that need to be addressed about the future of AI in India. Intending to face challenges, redefine the future of developers and to galvanize the world by teaching their initiatives in the field of AI, NVIDIA will be hosting its global AI developer event – GTC conference in March, which will provide singular opportunities for developers, decision-makers, academia, business and government. The conference was announced by NVIDIA with a news-filled keynote by the founder & CEO Jensen Huang. The GTC conference will be focusing on joining hands with other organizations discussing issues that the normal world will not be able to solve.

This is a place where people can witness how real problems are dealt with by learning from luminaries like Andrew Wong. Papers on issues will be published and doubts and questions concerning the upcoming technological challenges will be answered during the event. Discussions will be done on:

  • Accelerated computing
  • Deep learning
  • Data science
  • Digital twins
  • Networking
  • Quantum Computing
  • Computing the data center
  • Cloud
  • Edge

There would be AI delegates from all over the world including researchers and industry leaders with more than 1400 speakers participating in the event, coming up with solutions to the issues and questions concerning AI not only in India but across the world. Amazon, Autodesk, Barclays, Bloomberg, Cisco, Cornell University, DeepMind, Dell Technologies, Ericsson, Flipkart, Google Brain, Lockheed Martin, NASA, NFL, Snap, U.S. Air Force and VMware are key organizations participating in the event. The GTC conference will be able to help India build its recipes and maintain the competitive edge during a time when vendetta sovereignty is an important element.

The right approach in going forward

Considering galvanizing the public as one of the most significant AI challenges, one needs to understand the problem to the core to find a solution. The role of developers in the field of AI is beyond significant. Inputting the data in hand to a machine for augmenting the functions of a human being in real-time will become more efficient if there are suitable environments in the process. People who are at the top can create such conditions, need not be guaranteed that they will be successful. For ensuring such an environment is built for the developers to function, leaders should know what the developers are doing. For creating a secure environment for the industry, ministry, and the government they should know what data-driven work looks like. In this secured environment, there should be world-class computing infrastructure and a smooth pipeline of the data flow.

There are several initiatives by the government of India that are highly futuristics and appreciable. How does a person treat something they never had the opportunity to do before? The process of galvanization should be reciprocated in an exactly similar manner. This process can be carried out through various layers. These layers were shared with the government in October 2018, by Jensen Huang. It is a good time that the people of our country are reminded about this process. Mentioned following are the layers:

  • Research: Through the process of research, one should be able to educate themselves on every nuance required to achieve success. In a scenario where there are several problems, we should choose one problem and find the solution from the nation’s point of view.
  • Infrastructure: The researchers should be given efficient computing so that they can come up with solutions for real-life problems using AI. The IIT in Hyderabad can solve issues of agriculture in Telangana because they are provided with good infrastructure.
  • Developer: Over the years, opportunity in India has grown that people can go beyond the conventional method of migrating to the west for tech jobs but rather create opportunities by falling into the categories of startups. Startups should create world-class business strategies by satisfying the needs of India and surviving in the competition.

Initiatives by NVIDIA

  • Deep Learning Institute: They were formed to provide students with the best curriculum. It was a framework modified based on needs. It is getting perpetuated through the national supercomputing mission. A particular theoretical knowledge can be converted into boot camps. The issues relating to needs, business, applications etc. can be brought to the mentors and can be transformed into a state-of-the-art application.
  • NVIDIA AI Technology Center (NVAITC): Through this center, the problems can be identified where they can be connected with efficient other institutes. The intention is to develop a cluster of institutes thereby creating platforms solving issues using AI.
  • Speech platforms: They are used for the process of training & deployment based on the needs of the nation. Where the developers can come up with their solutions.

National Supercomputing Mission

National Supercomputing Mission was recently announced by the government when the previous year witnessed a shortage of semiconductors. The idea of the creation of a hub for the creation of semiconductors looks promising. India is already a hub for designing technology. If India has a strong policy, sufficient budget, and strong skillset, it is up to the executive power of the country to transfer the magic in the paper. If the execution is successful there is no other reason for this mission to be a failure.

It is for addressing the issues and hurdles of AI that NVIDIA’s flagship events like NVIDIA GTC conference will be held. It will be a platform for the developers and all those in the field of AI to learn novel innovations revolutionizing the field and know how to be ready for it.
