Goa Government Signs Mou With Jio Embibe For AI-Based Adaptive Learning

July 30, 2021

The government of Goa has signed an MoU with edu-tech platform Jio Embibe for adaptive learning based on Artificial Intelligence for students. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made this announcement to the Legislative Assembly earlier this week.

In a written reply, Sawant stated the MoU covers students of classes 6 to 12 with an exclusive portal for learning subjects like mathematics and science.

Most video conferencing platforms like Google Meet, Webex, JIO meet have extended their services during the pandemic for free. This allowed teachers and students to choose the best platform offering different features of control and connectivity, said CM Sawant who also holds the Education portfolio. In addition, the Department has also signed an MoU with Eduisfun Technologies for giving gamified digital learning app called STEPapp to make learning of Maths and Science interesting for the benefit of students of class VI to XII. Both the programs were implemented during the academic year 2020-21 free, he added.

The pandemic turned out to be a windfall for the edu-tech sectors, as schools and colleges shuttered down and e-learning became widespread. Even as schools and colleges across the country continue to decide when the right time is for educational institutions reopen, online learning will continue its upward trajectory. In addition, the tech sector’s rapid growth is compelling professionals to upskill and given the proliferation of technology into every major sector, the need for relevant skills in a digital age is at an all time high. According to the World Economic Forum, at least 133 million new job roles may emerge globally by 2022, which means more than half (54%) of all employees will require significant reskilling by 2022. Moreover, as per the India Skills Report 2020, employability remains a challenge due to the gap between existing skills and industry requirements. The employability in India ranges from 45.60% in 2018 to 47.38% in 2019 and 46.21% in 2020.
