Clinikally: A Y-Combinator-Backed Startup Hoping To Disrupt Digital Dermatology

July 19, 2022
Companies

New Delhi: Clinikally, a healhtech startup specialising in dermatology as well as over the counter skincare and haircare, has become a part of the prestigious accelerator Y-Combinator

based out of Silicon Valley. Founded just under a year ago, Clinikally is a part of Y-Combinator’s Summer 2022 batch.

ET Now learns that NY-based $1.5B venture fund Lux Capital has made its maiden India investment through Clinikally. Clinikally’s founder Arjun Soin declined to comment, and added a press release would be issued at a suitable time.

The 11-month-old startup has already delivered treatments across 500 cities for conditions like eczema, psoraisis, acne, hyperpigmentation, ageing and hair loss.

What problem is Clinikally solving?

Its democratising dermatology and skincare with an emphasis on chronic conditions, which in India are often considered to be for the elite. Clinikally is taking a data-driven approach, and keeping a doctor in the loop. The moat is to build a digital health platform that unifies the pharmacy & telemedicine experience seamlessly for millions of Indians. And, the consultation is priced very competitively at 149.

How it works?

Answer a digital questionnaire with photo uploads and medical parameters like existing pre-conditions, and other medical history. Patients are then assigned to a doctor (in under 30 minutes if they so choose) to provide personalised remote care over the long-term.

So, what’s the role of data science & AI?

Till now it would seem Clinikally is like any other telemedicine platform. But no, that’s not the case! Clinikally screens thousands of Rx-grade products on the market that are written by dermatologists, and selects the best after reviewing lakhs of prescriptions. It delivers personalised treatments most suited to the patient’s specific conditions. The company is also actively developing its own database of skin profiles to fuel automated, AI-enabled diagnoses.

About the founder

Arjun Soin is a Economics and Computer Science Stanford Grad, where he was a Graduate Researcher at the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (AIMI) primarily focused on Radiology & Dermatology imaging use cases. Previously, Arjun worked in Data Engineering & AI. He was a Founding Member of Web3 infrastructure project GetSafle that had raised $4.9m from Draper Dragon Fund and Polygon.
