In order to build apps employing 5G services, 100 labs in engineering universities and three centres of excellence for artificial intelligence will be established, according to an announcement made on Wednesday by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

In her Lok Sabha budget speech, the finance minister made the declaration.

“Third-rate educational institutions will host three centres of excellence for artificial intelligence. In the fields of agriculture, health, and sustainable cities, top business players will collaborate to perform multidisciplinary research, develop cutting-edge apps, and find scalable solutions to problems “she declared.

In order to build applications employing 5G services, Sitharaman stated that a total of 100 labs will be set up in engineering colleges in partnership with various authorities, regulators, banks, and other businesses.

The labs will address, among other things, applications such as smart classrooms, precision farming, intelligent transport systems, and healthcare applications, she said, in order to realise the new range of options, business models, and job potential.
