Millions of students each year scramble to make applications to colleges and universities across the globe. Missed application deadlines and not being able to identify the right programs as well as institutes are common problems that students have faced for many years. The dawn of technology on the college application process has now made navigating the entire application journey, a seamless experience for students, who can now easily view multifarious courses, colleges, detailed entry requirements. Moreover, fill out and track entire college applications over their mobile devices.

Globally rising internet penetration numbers coupled with artificial intelligence powered application portals are providing unprecedented access to information for students like never before. “Tech enabled platforms are solving a big problem that students have previously faced. Artificial intelligence powered course and college recommendation engines are being built into college application portals that can now recommend the best suited courses and institutes that map your current skillset to your future career ambitions. Such technology driven education solutions are completely revolutionary in terms of helping the students get started on their higher education journey, allowing them to not only make a well informed choice but also a decision that is backed by data and advanced AI” said Mehrab.

This may result in a faster and more accurate decision making process for students, reducing the time spent on the application process and will allow for faster turnaround on applications by the college administrative teams. Such solutions are breaking the information barriers that earlier existed now giving students a greater insight into what to expect from their educational institutes and their courses. “Personalized recommendations and suggestions powered by machine learning algorithms will allow students to better understand and analyze their course specifications and outcomes which will equip them with the right skill set for the dynamic job markets globally creating a truly engaging, insightful and compelling student experience” stated Mehrab Grewal.

AI powered tools and platforms are going a step beyond just matching a student’s profile and ambitions to the best suited colleges and programs, they also match a student’s profile to scholarships that they may be eligible for and help them to apply for such grants, creating equal opportunities for students around the world to access quality education at their dream institutes. Colleges and universities around the world are also continually upgrading and on boarding advanced technology solutions in their arsenal to better serve and assist prospective students particularly millennials and Gen Z students who prefer a technology first approach in their college, course shortlisting and application journey.

AI powered algorithms and digital analytics dashboards help college admissions teams in efficient course management, student retention and to even rethink their global student recruitment strategies. “ I regularly interact with college recruitment representatives from across the globe, tech has certainly enabled them to better analyze and optimize their recruitment initiatives and strategies. They can now with ease understand metrics around the flow of student applications. Innovative tech enabled solutions can assist teams to accurately predict enrolment, engagement and progression stats.

Recruitment teams can now focus their efforts on newer geographies to increase the flow of applications from specific key markets to boost on campus diversity. Student retention rates across institutes may also see a rise, as advanced AI algorithms can predict early on from engagement and academic stats of student’s if they are likely to face difficulties in course progression, extra time can be spent with such students to ensure their successful progression resulting in a reduced dropout ratio” said Mehrab.

Many colleges are even going a step ahead to use AI to fight the battle against document fraud, which is on the rise within the college application process. Artificial intelligence and machine learning software’s can now be used to predict the accuracy and legitimacy of the documents being submitted by students for their enrollments. As per Mehrab “blockchain powered document verification platforms are also being used by institutes to verify the provenance and authenticity of documents” Students and colleges are both on track to gain immensely from such technological advancements and smart application platforms that will positively transform the college application journey for all students across the globe.
