AR Is Emerging As A Backbone For Kids’ Education

The use and innovation of technology have dictated the last decade for the most part. Technical infusion has been on an all-time high during these times and has been observed in all global industries to varying extents. In this scenario, the education sector was not left untouched either, as technology has emerged as the latest trend in academia. Further, with the advent of the Covid pandemic, the need and speed of this technical spread have only increased and thus, technology has now become an indispensable part of education in today’s date.

Augmented Reality: The new way of teaching

As established, the use of technology in imparting knowledge has been gaining momentum in recent times. One segment of technology that has surfaced as a pioneer in this circumstance is augmented reality. Augmented reality, basically, superimposes a graphic into a person’s real-life vision thereby making it look very real to the user. This technological innovation is of particular relevance in the education sector, especially when it comes to the education of young children.

This is because, by making academic material ‘come to life,’ augmented reality makes its comprehension easier. Kids are attracted to immersive tech as it engages them and makes learning fun by bringing new characters into the classroom every day. Further, it is a psychological fact that pictorial matter makes a lasting imprint on the brain as compared to textual content, hence letting students retain what they learned for longer durations. This is because illustrations simulate the visualization prowess of kids which allows them to practically relate their lessons to real life.

Lastly, the use of AR, as opposed to many other technical interventions, requires no special equipment as AR-based apps work on your regular gadgets and devices. It is also relatively low cost, user-friendly, and super easy to learn. All these factors work to make it such a huge hit in children’s education in today’s date.

Different usages of AR in the present landscape of education

Applications- Internet applications based on augmented reality are growing in terms of usage and popularity in recent times. The main reason for this growth is that these applications provide all the benefits of this new tech in a very feasible and economic manner. Since the use of AR in education is primarily targeted to benefit younger kids who face more trouble with concentration and retention, the fact that these digital applications are illustrative and easy to comprehend also plays a key role in its success.

Toys- Recent times have also seen the inclusion of technology, especially augmented reality-based technology, in to the toys available for kids today. A large part of a child’s cognitive abilities develops between the ages of 2 to 6 years. The motor skills to develop around the same time. An interactive video-based approach to education helps children to also develop these abilities alongside gaining knowledge. AR infusion into new-gen toys has bridged the gap between play and learning and has combined the best of both to give kids a truly enjoyable and enriching experience. Thus, AR-based toys are the new and coming trend in the education sector.

Summing Up

Technology has been at the forefront of all innovations in the present day. This is because, with the rapid advancements that have been observed in the technical arena, the benefits derived by the introduction of tech into various domains have increased. Further, the pandemic has played a critical role in bolstering the growing importance of technology too.

The education sector has been fast adapting to tech and its innovations in recent times. Nowadays, AR-based toys and applications are being used to impart lessons to young students. They infinitely enhance the efficiency of the entire process due to their interactive, immersive, and feasible nature.
