American Businesses See AI As A Source Of Stronger Automation

December 21, 2023

The Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a premier worldwide technology research and consultancy group, has released a new research report that reveals American businesses are adopting cutting-edge automation systems to enhance workflows and user experience.

According to the 2023 ISG Provider LensTM Intelligent Automation Platforms and Products study for the United States, businesses are becoming more and more interested in platforms that leverage ML and AI capabilities, particularly generative AI (Gen AI), to better leverage a variety of rapidly expanding and diverse data sets. Their singular purpose is to identify the most dependable AI model for precise outcomes and a more profound comprehension of data and procedures. According to ISG, companies must have competent vendors and company-wide procedures in place to effectively integrate data from disparate silos, even though doing so can yield fresh insights.

Chip Wagner, CEO of ISG Automation, stated that “automation tools are advancing faster than ever.” “American businesses are well-positioned to benefit from new capabilities and have comparatively developed automation strategies.”

According to the survey, intelligent automation platforms are getting better in a number of crucial areas, such as the integration of data from various sources, real-time responsiveness, and access to a larger user base. These developments enhance U.S. organizations’ capabilities in all main automation areas, such as document processing, process mining and discovery, conversational AI, and document processing.

According to ISG, conversational AI platforms can now incorporate text, speech, and image input, opening the door for tools like chatbots that can react to medical image content. Versatile automated agents using Gen AI are starting to offer more individualized and natural interactions. More users are becoming empowered to use these technologies thanks to low-code/no-code features.

According to the report, intelligent document processing (IDP) is becoming more and more important in helping to extract data from historical documents and a wider variety of sources. Improved features for automatically analyzing and summarizing unstructured data, like insurance claims and medical information, are being added to IDP platforms. In order to comply with stricter data protection laws, integrated IDP solutions also provide compliance tools and safe, cloud-based document management.

According to ISG, as businesses embrace platforms that use cutting-edge ML algorithms to monitor processes both retrospectively and in real time, process discovery and mining is turning into a crucial business activity. In order to assist businesses adapt to shifting market conditions, modern systems can scan massive information, spot hidden patterns, and apply Gen AI to automatically recommend modifications of present operations.

Partner and global leader at ISG Provider Lens Research Jan Erik Aase stated, “Process discovery is no longer a static capability.” “Platforms now adjust to changing needs, allowing businesses to manage their operations more proactively.”

The study also looks at other trends in intelligent automation, such as the need for platforms that can learn from past mistakes and the increasing significance of ERP and CRM system interoperability.
