Amazon India Launches The Third Edition Of Machine Learning Summer

August 23, 2023
ml

The third iteration of the Machine Learning (ML) Summer School, an immersive program designed to give students the chance to study crucial ML technologies from Scientists at Amazon and prepare them for a career in machine learning, was just announced by Amazon India. Eight modules will be covered over four weekends in September as part of the free educational program, giving participants the chance to learn about important ML issues. The emphasis is on building a solid foundation in both theoretical ideas and real-world applications. These include supervised learning, Deep Neural Networks, probabilistic graphic models, dimensionality reduction, and unsupervised learning.

“Amazon ML Summer School is designed to build a strong foundation in key ML technologies over and above academics and is a step towards assisting students to chart out careers in ML,” says Rajeev Rastogi, Vice President, International Machine Learning, Amazon. Our goal is to give participating students the greatest instruction possible on a variety of subjects that are at the heart of contemporary machine learning, from the fundamentals to the cutting edge. The tutorial sessions will be taught by Amazon ML scientists, who are subject-matter specialists, and will cover the ideal combination of theoretical and practical expertise. The positive feedback we’ve gotten from students over the past few years has inspired us to strengthen and make our program more pertinent for pupils. This program will serve as a forum to encourage ML excellence and work to improve young talent’s skills in applied science.

A novel application-focused learning strategy is provided by Amazon’s ML Summer School, which departs from traditional approaches that emphasize theory. Participants get practical experience as well as theoretical understanding, preparing them for difficulties they may face in the real world. The program’s unique curriculum incorporates real-world applications, giving students knowledge and useful skills. Additionally, Amazon’s ML Summer School distinguishes out because it combines current science courses at universities with contemporary business practices, emphasizes hands-on learning, and accepts students from a variety of ML backgrounds.

The Amazon ML Summer School has advanced quickly and shown extraordinary progress since its pilot in 2021. Over 3500 students participated in the first program, with the top 300+ students receiving invitations to attend. In 2022, the program was enlarged based on its prior success, and over 17,500 engineering students from all around India registered. Out of these, 2880 pupils were chosen to participate in the program. The class size will increase this year as it is being expanded to include engineering students registered in any accredited institute in India.

All engineering students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programs from any accredited institution in India who anticipate graduating in 2024 or 2025 are eligible to attend the ML Summer School. All qualified students will be asked to complete an online test covering principles of arithmetic and machine learning in areas including probability, statistics, and linear algebra. The top 3000 students are then accepted for the ML Summer School, where they study eight modules in-person throughout four weekends, with live Q&A sessions with Amazon scientists following each session.
