This article explores the fundamental competencies, duties, and prospective compensation ranges of the top 10 AI and data science occupations in India.

  1. Data Scientist: Proficiency in statistics, machine learning foundations, data analysis, data visualization, and programming (Python, R).

Roles: Gather, clean up, and evaluate data; create and evaluate machine learning models; extract knowledge to address business issues; and effectively convey conclusions.

Pay: ₹7–15 lakhs annually for new hires, ₹15–30 lakhs annually for seasoned workers

  1. Data Analyst: Proficiency in Python and SQL programming, data cleansing, data visualization, fundamental statistics, and comprehension of business areas are required.

Roles: Roles include cleaning and processing data, seeing patterns and trends, producing dashboards and reports, and sharing data insights to help with decision-making.

Pay: ₹4–8 lakhs annually for new hires, ₹8–20 lakhs annually for seasoned workers

  1. Machine Learning Engineer: Proficiency in statistics, linear algebra, algorithms, machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), statistics, and machine learning (Python, C++).

Roles: Create, design, and implement machine learning models; work with software developers and data scientists; assess model performance; and guarantee ethical AI procedures.

Pay: ₹8–18 lakhs annually for new hires, ₹18–40 lakhs annually for seasoned workers

  1. Data Architect: Capabilities include big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark), data warehousing, data modeling, and database administration (MySQL, Oracle).

Roles: Functions include designing and overseeing data infrastructure, guaranteeing data security and quality, converting corporate requirements into technical solutions, and streamlining data flow for effective analysis.

Pay: ₹6–12 lakhs annually for novices, ₹12–30 lakhs annually for seasoned professionals

  1. Business Intelligence Developer: Proficiency in programming (Python, SQL), data warehousing ideas, data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), and comprehension of business intelligence principles are required.

Roles: Work with stakeholders to extract business value from data, create and manage business intelligence dashboards and reports, and convert data into actionable insights.

Pay: ₹5–10 lakhs annually for new hires, ₹10–25 lakhs annually for seasoned professionals

  1. Database Manager: Proficiency in MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL, data security, performance optimization, and familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure are among the skills required.

Pay: ₹8–15 lakhs annually for research assistants, ₹15–30 lakhs annually for seasoned researchers
