September 1, 2023

The conference aims to develop talent and increase investment opportunities in the nation’s ecosystem for AI startups.

Both domestic and international artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors are anticipated to attend the event.

The conference will cover a wide range of subjects, the ministry said in a statement, allowing all significant stakeholders to discuss the future of AI and its effects on India Inc.

The Global IndiaAI 2023 conference, which will bring together the best and the brightest in AI from India and around the world, is tentatively scheduled for October 14–15. The AI landscape and innovation ecosystem in India will also be stimulated by the Global IndiaAI Summit, according to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics and Information Technology.

According to the ministry, the focus of the event will be on cutting-edge learning and fundamental AI models, as well as on the next research trends and AI computer systems. Stakeholders will also discuss the use of AI in industries like healthcare, government, and next-generation electric cars.

With this, the government hopes to spur the domestic AI industry and replicate the “huge success” of the SemiconIndia event held in July of this year.

According to a formal announcement, the event will highlight the government-supported IndiaAI ecosystem, which includes initiatives like the Digital India Bhashini India Datasets Programme and IndiaAI Future Design Programme for companies.

The steering committee charged with planning the Global IndiaAI 2023 summit is being led by Chandrasekhar. Members of MeitY’s Digital Economy Advisory Group and other industry leaders in the field of AI make up the panel.

Chandrasekhar praised the importance of startups and academic institutions and stated that the program for the upcoming conference will include a comprehensive framework created in collaboration with stakeholders for the IndiaAI initiative. He also urged the proper application of AI to prevent user harm and promote creativity.

“… What we seek is for AI to act responsibly, preventing user harm and fostering innovation. Our main goal is to ensure a cooperative and participatory approach, guiding AI to improve governance and transform lives while developing international alliances and actively influencing the global technology environment, according to the MoS.

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the B20 Summit India 2023, called for the creation of a global framework on the moral use of AI.

In addition, industry experts like Sridhar Vembu have expressed reservations about the new technology, while N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, has expressed confidence about how AI can improve the Indian labor market.
