Studying AI Can Pay Off: According To A Teamlease Digital Research, Freshers In India Earn Between 10 And 14 Lakh Rupees Per Year

March 23, 2023
Artificial-Intelligence

According to a survey on artificial intelligence by tech staffing company TeamLease Digital, there are 45,000 unfilled jobs in India in the field. The starting compensation for new hires is between 10 and 14 lakh per year.

According to the report “Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) – Forces Shaping Future of Technology – AI,” India generated $12.3 billion in revenue from AI in 2022, and by the end of 2025, analysts predict the AI software segment will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18%.

A rise in the demand for AI experts

Over time, need for software developers and data experts will decline as scalable machine learning (ML) applications gain more attention. As a result, there will be a rise in the demand for AI specialists that are fluent in scripting languages. Building standard ML models will be the primary skill needed for an AI job, and more and more AI experts will need to understand how to construct ML solutions.

“The AI revolution is transforming the job market, creating an urgent need for skilled professionals who can design, develop, and implement cutting-edge AI technologies,” claims Sunil Chemmankotil, chief executive officer of TeamLease Digital.

According to the study, a variety of key job roles are currently available in the AI landscape across key industries, including: healthcare (clinical data analyst, medical imaging specialist, and health informatics analyst, among others); education (edtech product manager, AI learning architect, AI curriculum developer, chatbot developer, etc.); BFSI (fraud analyst, credit risk analyst, compliance specialist); and manufacturing (industrial data scientist, QC analyst, prod (retail data analyst, IT process modeler, digital imaging leader and others).

Salaries for AI experts

AI specialists can anticipate earning big wages. The expected salaries for freshers in various technology roles in India, according to TeamLease Digital’s research, are as follows: data engineers (up to 14 lakh per annum), ML engineers (up to 10 lakh per annum), data scientists (up to 14 lakh per annum), devops engineers (up to 12 lakh per annum), data architects (up to 12 lakh per annum), business intelligence analysts (up to 14 lakh per annum), and database administrators (up to 12 lakh per annum). Furthermore, those with eight years of expertise in related industries can earn even more money, ranging from 25 to 45 lakh rupees annually.

AI career development through skill enhancement

Freshmen who want to work in AI must have completed class XII with physics and arithmetic as well as a course or degree in the required discipline according to the position’s requirements. It is crucial to have a solid background in math, particularly in the areas of calculus, statistics, and linear algebra. Professionals with some experience can enroll in online or in-person classes to develop a foundation in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), data analysis, and computer vision. Individuals can improve their AI skills by combining information acquisition with practical experience, earning certifications, and keeping up with emerging trends.
