India’s Adoption Of AI In 2022 Was Driven By NASSCOM’s Four AI Projects

December 14, 2022
Artificial-Intelligence

As a trade association, NASSCOM has long been actively involved in promoting and advocating for technological improvements. The top organisation of the Indian IT-BPM sector, NASSCOM, is crucial to the advancement of the sector’s technology innovation agenda. Initiatives of NASSCOM to advance AI in India were seen in 2022.

AI Adoption Index: NASSCOM created the nation of India’s first-ever AI Adoption Index in collaboration with EY, Microsoft, EXL, and Capgemini. In order to evaluate AI adoption in India, the study “Tracking India’s Sectoral Progress on AI Adoption” will delve deeply into the four important industries that are driving India’s AI story: BFSI, CPG and Retail, Healthcare, and Industrials and Automotive.

“Nearly 70% of the $500 billion in value that AI and data may create for India comes from these industries. It has become crucial to gauge sectoral adoption levels and analyse the factors driving them as AI becomes more and more prevalent “said NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh when making the announcement.

The Ethical AI Resource Kit is the result of a partnership between NASSCOM and top industry partners to promote the wide-scale use of responsible AI. On October 11, 2022, Abhishek Singh, President & CEO of NeGD, introduced the NASSCOM Responsible AI hub. NASSCOM and top industry players are working together to promote the wide-scale deployment of ethical AI.

According to Abhishek Singh, matching commercial objectives with ethical AI ideals is India’s largest difficulty. He also underlined the necessity of developing AI from a multidisciplinary perspective. He claimed, “We ignore several fields that are more useful for AI than physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The government would gain from using the responsible AI resource kit to implement various programmes, Abhishek Singh continued.

Revv Up Initiative: In 2022, NASSCOM and the Telangana government jointly announced the Revv Up programme. According to the Telangana government’s aim, Revv Up will develop a domestic AI community in India that is well-versed in resolving and addressing native problems based on inferences and insights from locally accessible information.

The first two cohorts of the T-AIM were a big success. In order to explore Proof of Concept chances, fifteen entrepreneurs interacted with the Telangana government. Of those, 2-3 signed memorandums of understanding or received pilot opportunities. Additionally, more than 40 startups made pitches to more than 35 investors, and some of them have already gotten investment or are about to do so. At the recent G20 Digital Innovation Network (DIN) conference in Bali, Indonesia, two of its firms won honours. T-AIM submitted 4–5 startup companies for the competition.

Academic Grand Challenge: The Academic Grand Challenge was first offered by Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM), which is powered by NASSCOM. The challenge’s goal is to encourage students to have an entrepreneurial mindset. Student teams from institutions all around India are asked to develop solutions for two areas as part of this challenge. One entails creating a digital bank of the future that incorporates cutting-edge technology to enable banking anytime and anywhere. To determine if and when the financial markets will crash this year, the other will need a predictive analytics programme.
