India ranks first in AI skill penetration and talent concentration, and sixth in AI scientific publications, according to a new NASSCOM survey.
According to the survey, Indian tech talent is three times more likely than that of other nations to possess or report AI skills. This demonstrates how quickly Indian tech talent is becoming proficient in DS&AI. This includes individuals who want to advance their careers in the cutting-edge fields of AI and analytics.
In the areas of education, banking, hardware and networking, manufacturing, software, and IT services, India has the highest penetration of AI skills among the OECD and G20 nations.
India has a higher proportion of women in its talent base than any other technology talent hotspot, except for Japan, at 25%*, which is higher than the global average of 17%–18% for installed DS&AI talent. The demand for data science and AI specialists is anticipated to rise rapidly in India as well, reaching more than 1 million professionals by 2014.
The ongoing high demand for talent in India is impacted by several factors, including market dynamics, data implosion, the desire for better decision-making, compensation, and expectations for rapid growth. As a result, there is a high demand for Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Engineers with experience in creating data products in the Indian AI skills market.
According to a statement by Debjani Ghosh, President of NASSCOM, the impact of AI-led disruption in India’s core industries might total $500 billion in terms of gross value added (GVA) by 2026. But, scaling up AI programs and skill development, will take concentrated efforts from the government, business, and academia. The government’s recent announcement to establish three Centers of Excellence to create AI for India and make AI work for India is a great move in the right direction.
According to the analysis, the hardware, software, and services categories of the Indian AI market are estimated to develop at a CAGR of 20.2% over the next five years to reach $7.8 billion in value by 2025.
According to the research, “With over 1.6 million digital talent pools, India has emerged as the top destination for talent internationally.”
