Mumbai: Artificial Intelligence (AI) startups are fast on their way to help India achieve $1 trillion digital economy in future, says a compendium of selected 75 such startups prepared by the government. Bizz Buzz has seen the compendium. India has already made a mark for herself in the field of IT and communication and is slowly becoming a coveted hub for technological innovations. The past two years have been crucial for India as we fought the global pandemic with unrivalled resilience with our innovation capabilities and technological advancements and emerged from the crisis as a stronger nation.

Some of the AI startups that find mention in the book, include, AgNext, Aquaconnect, Aindra Systems, Artelus, Artivatic, Augnito, Betterhalf.ai, Boxx.ai, Brainpan Innovations, CamfyVision Innovations, Cardiotrack and CloudSEKS. Debjani Ghosh, President, Nasscom, says: “These startups and many more which have not been listed, can be considered as one of the many means to achieve the target of $1 trillion digital economy fuelled by the rising desire of entrepreneurship by the youth of the country.”

Also, India has gradually cemented herself as an AI hub, promoting deep tech start-ups, academic research and enabling digital transformation across every major sector. Technologies such as AI is important as it has the potential to leave a positive impact on the society and will eventually shape our future. It is good that the government has been at the forefront when it comes to technological adoption and encouragement required for implementation.

Ahead of the 75 years of celebration termed as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an embodiment of India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity, it’s only fitting to acknowledge the entities and startups that have addressed a specific problem and excelled in sectors through the use of artificial intelligence. It is important that the nation is aware of their existence and the value additions that they are providing at each step to make our lives easier.

Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, MeitY, Government of India, says: “When we had set up the national AI portal of India almost three years ago, together with NeGD and Nasscom, we had extremely high hopes; I can see all our efforts come to fruition with the stellar work that this portal has done to nurture the AI community in India.”

Over the past 75 years, we have paved our way towards leadership in the areas of strategic importance and economic self-reliance. For the forthcoming years, the main ingredients of success will be our talent pool and technological leadership. With the current demographic dividend, India is unstoppable in its pursuit of global dominance and leadership in every field. When combined with the technological prowess of our young population, we have an excellent opportunity to seize the day and establish ourselves as the top AI nation of the world.

The demand for talent in the AI and machine learning sector is estimated to grow significantly and are fully armed to exploit the opportunity.

We already have all the tangible resources we need, and with this compendium, we are also providing the much-needed inspiration for all our aspiring young techies. This compendium highlights India’s foray into a new era of AI modernity and digitisation. I hope that the readers enjoy reading them, learning from them and continue innovating for India, said Sharma.
