Top 5 Indian Colleges for B.Tech in AI and Data Science

Self-driving cars, facial recognition, web search, missile guidance, and tumor detection are all complex real-world problems being solved with Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. India is armed with a bustling AI ecosystem, and together with the demographic dividend, the country is well positioned to become a world leader in AI. To retain its competitive advantage, however, India needs to be viewed as the global hub for digital talent. This is possible only by training the young engineers for the requirements of Industry 4.0.

For all aspiring AI graduates, we have prepared a list of the top B.Tech. programmes being offered at India’s premier universities.

  • Indraprastha Institute of Technology, Delhi: There is a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence on offer at IIIT-D. It is an AI-ML focused program that starts with computing and basic AI oriented courses, followed by application related courses of these technologies. 
  • Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad: The Department of AI at IIT-H aims to produce students with a sound understanding of the fundamentals of the theory and practice of AI and ML. Headed by Prof Vineeth N Balasubramanian, the department offers a B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence. 
  • Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati: The institute has recently set up its School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence named after the Mehta Family who have provided the grant for the same. The school will be ready to accept its first batch of B.Tech. students in the academic year 2021-22 through JEE exams. 
  • Manipal Institute of Technology: B.Tech in CSE (AI&ML) offered by the Computer Science and Engineering Department provides the budding engineers with an array of courses dedicated to frontiers in the field of AI and ML with a foundation of Computer Science & Engineering. The 4-year full time programme presents exposure to hands-on technologies to create applications and solutions for the world that we live in. 
  • Vellore Institute of Technology: The School of Computer Science and Engineering offers B.Tech programmes with various specialisations at the two VIT campuses. At the Vellore campus: specialisation in Data Science. At the Chennai campus, specialisations in: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; and Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
